You know how to dance, but you want to be better
So you've taken a few beginner classes already and you want to learn more. Perhaps you haven't danced in awhile and you need a refresher. Maybe you've learned a few figures, but can't seem to put them together. Or maybe you just want to dance with more ease and grace. In any case, your goal is to become more confident and proficient at getting around the dance floor, and we can certainly help you do it!
At JC Dance Co., you will experience the ideal learning environment to suit your needs. Our teachers have the skill and experience to be able to tailor the class to suit your pace and to your specific learning needs. If you want to concentrate on a single dance, or focus on the basic fundamentals that apply to all dances; if you want to make your dancing more smooth or improve your posture and look on the floor, we do it all.
If you're not sure what your goals are, that's okay too. In the world of Ballroom Dancing, there are set levels of proficiency, known as Syllabus levels, that can help to guide your development. Set goals and track your progress by working through these levels of proficiency (Newcomer, Pre-Bronze, Bronze, Silver and Gold). By taking Medal tests for each level, you will work towards mastering your dance skills, before moving on to the next challenge. You will receive an internationally recognized certificate and medal for every test and level that you pass, and is a great way to be recognized for your hard work and accomplishment. JC Dance Co. offers social classes in the form of Privates, Semi-Privates and also Group lessons.
- Private Lessons for a couple
Accelerate your learning through private lessons!
- Private Lessons are the fastest way for you and your partner to learn and improve.
- You and your partner will receive personalized attention for a full 55 minutes. By dancing with each of you, your JC Dance Co. instructor will be better able to address your individual needs, especially with regards to lead and follow, which is the most important skill that a social dancer must have.
- The pace of learning will be determined by you and your partner. In a Private Lesson, the instructor is able to tailor each session to your specific needs and your individual learning style. The whole lesson is about you, and nobody else.
- Private Lessons for a Single Student
Dance with an expert and accelerate your learning one-on-one!
- If you don ’t have a partner, but want to learn how to dance, or if you just want to sharpen your skills so that you’ll be a better lead or follow for your partner, the best way to accelerate your learning is through private lessons one-on-one.
- In private lessons for single students, you will learn detailed information, as well as get a lot of hands-on experience dancing with an expert.
- For those of you don't have a partner, but are highly motivated and interested in competitive dancing, you may want to consider Pro-Am competition. For more information, please go to the Pro-Am page.
- Semi-Private Classes
Save money and form your own group!
- Often group classes get too large, and the pace of the class may not suit your learning ability. So why not form your own group?! Smaller groups consisting of 3 or 4 couples are known as semi-privates, in which you can have fun with a few other couples and yet still get some individual attention once in awhile.
- Get individual attention at a discounted rate. Compared to a Private Lesson, forming your own group is a much cheaper option. Of course you don't get as much attention that you do in a Private Lesson, but you don't get lost in a big Group Class setting either.
- JC Dance Co. will provide a relaxed and comfortable teaching environment where you and your friends can learn. You will learn the basics of how to lead and follow, so that you can even switch partners amongst your friends.
Group Lessons
JC Dance Co. instructors, Joel & Clara, have been contracted to teach for several different ballroom studios in Vancouver. Please contact each individual studio for more information about their classes.
If none of these classes work for you and you’d like to form your own group, we’d be happy to set up a semi-private group class to suit your specific needs.
- Fitness Ballroom Standard Group Class
